Building Unshakeable Confidence: A Senior VP’s Guide to Resilience and Growth Post-Downsizing”

A Senior leader disappointed

If you’re a senior leader in an organisation, and your confidence and self-worth depend on the titles you hold, the amount of your pay check, and the number of people following you on LinkedIn (solely due to your titles and organisation’s name)

Here is the raw truth…. downsizing can quickly challenge that.
You might find yourself at the reception of another organisation, starting afresh as a 40-50-year-old senior VP without a job, questioning whether you’re truly as significant and valuable as you assumed !

The question then arises: where does your confidence go?
It becomes a moment of challenge not just in terms of money but in terms of the bankruptcy of your confidence….and it’s tough to face this situation when you ‘lack that one thing that drives you to take ‘action now’

My recommendation is to base your confidence not on anything external but on who you truly are. I know it may not always seem easy in the world that glorifies ‘external validations’

But think about it…

Your self confidence – is the only thing that will stay within you longer than anything external.

– Ask yourself what you are capable of,
– what acquired experiences could help you soar again,
– what key transferable skills you already possess.
– More importantly, focus on new skill development for the next opportunity you need, the knowledge, and networking required to upgrade and develop right away.

This approach will result in you feeling less disappointed when falling off your current position. Once your focus is on who you are from within, then whether you get approval or not, whether people like your posts or not, whether you experience big or small growth, whether you have a big fat pay check or not, whether you have a million in your account or a hundred rupees—your self-confidence will be abundant no matter what!

The good part is when you’re rich in self-confidence; you’ll be able to logically and emotionally believe that you can make the change. You will go after newer opportunities or create one where you currently are; you will dare and take risks, and that self-confidence will become your superpower—your personal companion on your journey to becoming who you truly want to be, one day at a time.”
